Aquired: January 2022
Favorite song: To The End
I bought this CD from my local record store with money I got during Christmas. I love this album so much, it's my favorite album by my favorite band. It was also my gateway drug into harder rock music and is responsible for pretty much all the music I listen to now. A lot of people lament about how they with they could listen to an album for the first time again, to relive that almost spiritual experience of hearing it with completely fresh ears. But this wish doesn't apply to me because every time I listen to something for the first time I'm either unimpressed or hate it. Everything I listen to has to be an aquired taste and this album, despite being my favotire of all time, is no exception. I can't remember the first time I listened to it. I was maybe around the age of 13 or 14 and gave it a listen because I heard Helena or I'm Not Okay and wanted to hear more of that sound, but I remember hating the album for the screaming and how angsty it was. I never touched the album again until I was 15 and the pandemic hit, and my love for this album and the band behind it grew tremendously. Because I finally liked it, I listened to thier other albums and then bands that were in a similar scene or had a similar sound to My Chemical Romance. I love the story behind it and the album is just so good, I love every song. Even if one unfortunate day I stop listening to angsty rock music this album will still have a special place in my heart and memory.
