Favorite song: Knights Of Cydonia
My favotire Muse album. Maybe that's a cop-out, since this is their most popular one, but it has to be popular for a reason! It's just a great album, the songs have complex instrumentation that isn't afraid to experiment from song to song, the vocals are incredible, and I like that they used an acutal orchestra for the orchestral parts instead of a synth like most bands. I think that this album falls a bit into the pitfall of white rock guys singing about rebellion that's not actually directed at anything to sound cool and badass, but I don't think that Muse uses it to create a cool tough-guy persona like a lot of bands do. I think that it's more of an exploration of topics than them actually trying to act like they're calling for revolution. I have listened to Muse for a long time, and I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but this album is still seared deep into my brain. Finally hearing Knights Of Cydonia live was so fucking awesome; it gave me goosebumps.
